The Dime Bank Foundation: Another Year of Giving

Foundation 2020 Contributions

Norwich, CT Tuesday, December 29, 2020

The Dime Bank Foundation announced that their 2020 philanthropic contributions to the community exceeded $220,000 including a special disbursement in April to six organizations in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While every year donations are made throughout the community by Dime in an effort to help assure that those in need are cared for in life’s most basic needs – food, warm clothing and shelter, this year presented a level of need our community hadn’t seen in decades.

In early April, The Dime Bank Foundation became aware that food insecurity was becoming a major concern in New London County, with food pantries seeing increasing levels of need, making it hard to keep pantries stocked as well as adhere to social distancing in wait lines. An emergency meeting was called where six organizations including the United Way of Southeastern CT, St. Vincent de Paul Place, the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, New London Area Food Coalition, TVCCA, and Norwich Events Organization were granted contributions totaling in $28,500.

In addition to this special disbursement, the Foundation also gave back during its traditional three grant cycles during the course of 2020, reaching 63 more organizations. Among the recipients were Easterseals Capital Region & Eastern CT, Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board, Habitat for Humanity, Higher Edge, Journey Found, Madonna Place, Malta, Inc., New London Community Meal Center, Norwich Community Backpack Program, Norwich Community Care Team, Norwich Housing Authority, S.T.E.P.S, Safe Futures, Southeastern CT Housing Alliance, Thames Valley Council for Community Action, The Arc Eastern CT, The Riverfront Children’s Center, The Salvation Army, UCP of Eastern CT, Inc., WARM Center, Inc., Always Home, American Red Cross, Community Health Resource, and many more.

In 2020, Dime Bank moved in to the greater Hartford area, opening new branches in Glastonbury and Manchester, CT and therefore has expanded the service area for The Dime Bank Foundation. For more information on the Foundation, recent recipients, and service area, please visit dime-bank.com.
