Dime Bank Presents a $3,000 Grant to The Eastern Connecticut Ballet

News Release - December 30, 2008

(Norwich, CT) - Dime Bank Foundation recently presented a $3,000 grant to the Eastern Connecticut Ballet (ECB). With Dime's grant, the ECB will be able to continue free ticket distribution for its annual Nutcracker performances. The ECB will provide 130 tickets to underserved adults and children in southeastern Connecticut.

"At ECB, we feel that it's very important to give back to the community," said Lise Reardon, founder and director. "As part of our dancers' education, they learn that they not only dance for themselves, but they also dance for others. A community-based organization, we have a strong commitment to the region. Our dancers put on many school-based performances, and go out into the audience to interact with children. We try to teach our dance students that they are part of a much bigger world."

Annually, the Ballet receives numerous requests for free tickets. This year, tickets are being donated to ten organizations including, Waterford Country School, Women's Center of Southeastern Connecticut, LEARN - Southeast Mental Health, LEARN - Children's First Initiative, Thames Rivers Community Programs, Kente Cultural Center, Boys and Girls Club, Drop In Learning Center, OIC, and Beth Bethsaida.
