Dime Bank Blue Crew in Action Again - Volunteering
at the Emergency Services Banquet in Norwich
News Release - April 22, 2009
Norwich, CT - The Dime Bank Blue Crew was in action again,
this time volunteering at the Emergency Services (EMS) Banquet in Norwich
on Saturday, April 18. The banquet was held at the Norwich VFW hall on
Connecticut Avenue from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. This event was organized to
recognize the work and dedication of local emergency services personnel.
"Volunteers of the Year" from fire, police and ambulance departments
were also honored.
The Dime Bank Blue Crew was ready and willing to assist. Dime
employees served as wait staff, servers and clean up crew. Gale Ennis,
Dime Bank receptionist shared, "I offered my support to the banquet
because emergency services has always been close to my heart. My father
is a retired fire chief, and I met my husband through the fire department.
I still have family who continue to serve their communities."
Ennis continued, "Dime staff volunteered at last year's Peachtree
fire dinner, and a bond was created. It was a very touching evening, and
the message still hits home. I know the Dime Bank Blue Crew was
very proud to serve this special group of people."
Richard A. Delorge, event coordinator and past commander of the Norwich
VFW said, "The Dime Bank Blue Crew was a pleasure to work
with. They were the only group who volunteered to assist with this event,
and they all were true professionals. We received wonderful comments from
all of our guests."
A retired Marine and Norwich police officer, Delorge is the community
activity director for the VFW. Under his leadership, the Norwich auxiliary
has earned the title of national champion for community activity by the
United States Veterans of Foreign Wars organization.
