Thames Valley Council for Community Action, Inc.

News Release - August 29, 2008

(Norwich, CT) - Dime Bank recently awarded $30,000 to the Thames Valley Council for Community Action, Inc. (TVCCA) capital campaign in support of extensive renovations at the Child Development Center on Bayonet Street in New London. The state-of-the-art facility is prominently situated within its neighborhood, and communicates to the community's poor and working poor with children that they are worthy of this investment and that their children are learning in a center of excellence.

" We are proud to support TVCCA's first-ever capital campaign," said Jim Cronin, president of Dime. "The new Child Development Center will provide an atmosphere that fosters and enhances learning on a multitude of levels. The Center is known for the quality of its teaching staff, unique curriculum, multimedia education and communication among a child's learning team."

Dime was one of the initial supporters of TVCCA'S vision to expand the Bayonet Street Child Development Center. Dime enthusiastically supports TVCCA's mission to better its community and provide a quality education to children within its service area.

"Dime Bank is a true community bank working in the community, for the community and with the community," said Deborah Monahan, executive director of TVCCA. "Dime Bank's $30,000 contribution to TVCCA's Capital Campaign will enable hundreds of preschool children to benefit from a quality early childhood development facility built with children's learning in mind."
